How to “Master Mind” Your Way to Success!

It’s a fact: two heads are better than one. In fact, when it comes to resolving problems or creating wonderful new ideas that can positively change your life, 4 to 6 heads are better still! That’s what author Napoleon Hill wrote in his classic motivational book, Think and Grow Rich.

Millionaire steel magnate Andrew Carnegie challenged Hill, then a young reporter, to dedicate 20 years of his life to studying many of the world’s most successful and wealthiest people. Carnegie personally introduced Hill to business giants Frank W. Woolworth, George Eastman, William Wrigley Jr., Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller, Thomas Edison, and others. The concept of the “Master Mind” is one of many that Hill discovered.

“No two minds ever come together
without thereby creating a third, invisible
intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.”
--Napoleon Hill

Simply put, the Master Mind Group is a support system of like-minded individuals that has led thousands of people to incredible success and riches. These groups can be formed for specific business objectives or for personal goals. The group determines how each member will contribute and how he or she would personally benefit. The members devise a plan to meet their goals, and a schedule for each member to make their specific contributions.

Key to success?
  1. Definiteness of purpose and,
  2. A clear, specific plan.

No matter what your goals, you too can cash in on the power of this proven system! Here’s how to get started…

1. FORM YOUR GROUP: Think of everyone who you think would make a valuable contribution. Ideal group size is 4-6 people in non-competing fields.

2. CREATE YOUR SCHEDULE: A regular day and time on a monthly basis works best. All members should be willing to commit to the schedule and be prepared to actively contribute (and benefit!).

3. DECIDE ON A MEETING FORMAT: Perhaps the first half hour could be for general discussion about the issues. Each member could then have, depending on group size, 15 to 30 minutes to discuss his or her hot issue of the month. Everyone else is dedicated to helping this person solve their problem and/or come up with as many helpful ideas as possible.

4. INVITE AN EXPERT: Add a jolt of fresh thinking to your meetings by occasionally inviting an “outside” expert to speak on a particular topic that’s relevant to the group’s interests.

5. ACT NOW! When you have half a dozen people pushing you, it’s amazing what you can do. The peer pressure alone forces everyone to be accountable for their actions… or inactions. Always be sure to follow up from the previous meeting by finding out if each member did what he or she committed to doing. The best groups provide excellent motivation, and aren’t afraid to gently confront members for inaction. After all… taking action is what the Master Mind principle is all about!
